One of the major exhibitions at the Comics museum in Angouleme has major comics artist create art in colaboration with modern fine artists. Sounds interesting, but is actually surprisingly dull. This was bought right of the rack at our local newspaper vendor here in Paris. According to Charlie Hebdo, who are known for publishing provocative Mohammed cartoons and have even had their editorial offices firebombed due to this, this graphic novel has been thoroughly vetted by Islamic experts and should not be provicative. Yet, Mohammed is depicted, and depicted rather derisively. Interesting. Anyone who has heard if this has created any problems? Will read and get back with more comments. Another comics exhibition in Paris. No, wait.. That’s just the wall next to Hanna’s workspace. January 24, 2013 By Fredrik Strömberg 1
Le Grand Danois, Erik Svane, lured me to a big exhibition with Star Wars toys, here in Paris. Out of all the exceptional things displayed (a lot of the original sketches, sculptures, molds etc) I fell for this weird merchandise of a C-3PO giving birth to a roll of scotch tape… January 24, 2013 By Fredrik Strömberg 2
From the trompe l’oeuil exhibition at Les Arts Decoratis. Imagine living with mirrors for floor. Weird and a bit dizzying. January 24, 2013 By Fredrik Strömberg 1
In France right now, they Are doing something that we could learn from. Instead of including DVDs with endless TV-series in their daily newspapers, they include classic comics albums. Hardcover to boot, and for a few euros. I would love to see this happen in Sweden. January 24, 2013 By Fredrik Strömberg 2
Probably my favorite Bilal painting from the Lovre exhibition, where he has painted a face inside an ancient helmet. The texts are, as I understand it, mock dokumentary notes on the people who has become ghosts, made in the Louvre’s style of signs for their artifacts. January 23, 2013 By Fredrik Strömberg 0
One of the more evocative of Enki Bilal’s paintings, which consists of photos of art from the Louvre’s collection with imagined ghosts from their past superimposed on the images. January 23, 2013 By Fredrik Strömberg 0
Right now, Enki Bilal has a major art exhibition at the Louvre, Paris. Part of the Lovre’s agenda to engage comics artists to be inspired by the collection of the museum. Well worth a visit. January 23, 2013 By Fredrik Strömberg 0

The comic about the Stromberg family’s adventures in 2012 is at this moment being penciled. January 21, 2013 By Fredrik Strömberg 4
Three weeks into the project of immersing myself in The Beatles all through 2013. So far Revolver is my favorit album. Halfway through from the boy-loves-girl pop tunes of their early career and the more psychedelic music of their later era, this is both intellectually interesting and catchy – and it still sounds as though they were having fun recording. We found this book in the small library in our apartment here in Paris. A sign from the gods? But who the Hell is “K”? Should we expect a visit from men in black suits and black Raybans? January 20, 2013 By Fredrik Strömberg 1

The designated reading area at the manga section at Fnac, Forum les Halles, Paris. This is strange for a Swede, as we are always actively discouraged from reading in bookstores at home. Strange but really nice. January 19, 2013 By Fredrik Strömberg 1
