Visiting another really emotionally exhausting exhibition (it’s turning out to be a good exhibition year for the Angoulême festival): the Korean exhibition on the “comfort women”, i.e. the Korean women who were forced to be prostitutes for the Japanese army during WWII. A really powerful exhibition is the one on Tardi and the Great War. Inside, the exhibition hall is partitioned by rough wooden planks to form a labyrinthine passage reminiscent of the trenches that are shown of Tardi’s art, augmented by the sound of shelling going on continuously.
